American Cosmonaut have been gone for 10 years, and their members have gone on to form some other great local bands, like Lasers and Fast and Shit, and Hot Broadcast. On Saturday, August 9th, they will return after a decade-long hiatus to bring their proudly unaltered 90s shoegaze/indie to Double Door’s stage. American Cosmonaut aren’t the only band who are getting the band back together. Sour Deluxe, who have easily logged a dozen appearances at Double Door over the years will also be reuniting at this show, and current space-rock/shoegaze fixtures on the local scene Lightfoils, Withershins, and Neiv will round out the bill. Gig poster art by Double Door’s in-house artist Dan Wade.

Soul Summit designer/DJ/head honcho Scott “Sloppy White” Williams created a truly iconic poster for this month’s party coming up on Saturday. You can pick up this sweet poster or get the design on a t-shirt or a tank top. Nice!

JEFF The Brotherhood are coming to Double Door on 7/26! You’re probably already familiar with their summer jam “Sixpack,” but in case you aren’t or if you needed a reminder of how to party properly this day-drinking season, give it a spin and we’ll see you on the 26th.

We still have some tickets left for both of our Lollapalooza Official Aftershows. Our Friday 8/1 show features critically-acclaimed Brooklyn singer-songwriter Phosporescent, aka Matthew Houck, and our Saturday 8/2 features critically-acclaimed indie hip hop dream team-up Run The Jewels (Killer Mike and El-P). It’s a lot to get excited about! Tickets are going fast for both of these shows. Head over to ticketfly.com and commit to having a great time come Lolla weekend.

Jessica Hernandez and The Deltas are not only playing the just-announced Riot Fest 2014 lineup, but they are playing here next Thursday, May 22. Their Made-In-Detroit blend of funk, blues, rock and soul has an air of gyspy mystery to it, and Hernandez’s ability to belt out a melody in this live version of “Caught Up” is enough to make believers out of us.

Davina and The Vagabonds will be kicking off CIMMFest No. 6 this Wednesday, April 30. DATV’s are much more than a blues band, filling their sets with style and charm ranging from New Orleans ragtime to Memphis soul, to gospel influences. Davina Sowers’ voice has been compared to Etta James, Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Billie Holiday and Betty Boop, but like many true originals, her voice and her band’s sound defy easy categorization. The show is FREE and Windy City Soul Club will be on hand before DATV’s set to get you in the mood to dance. Save the date.Davina and The Vagabonds - Photo by Ezra Moore
